Billy Walker hat seinen Fans ein Vermächtnis der besondern Art gemacht. Sein Album Tribute To Jimmie Rodgers. Es ist Billy Walker letztes Album gewesen. In seiner unnachahmlichen Art besingt er Songs von Jimmie Rodgers. In einem Interview, welches ich mit meinem Freund Billy Walker führte, fragte ich ihn:

„Billy ess gibt heute in der Country Music viele Legenden die man in den Staaten und weltweit kennt. Kannst du mir einige persönliche Erfahrungen mit ihnen erzählen?"

Billy Walker: „Nimm zum Beispiel Patsy Cline - Sie und ich haben zum ersten Mal bei einer TV Show in der Capitol Arena in Washington D.C. mit Jimmy Dean zusammen gearbeitet. Ich erinnere mich, dass Patsy ein Gaststar bei einer anderen TV Show war, bei der ich mitwirkte und die von Red Foley betreut wurde, "Ozark Jubilee". Patsy und ich hatten den gleichen Manager, Randy Hughes. Ich kam zur Grand Ole Opry weil Randy mich dazu ermutigt hatten und heute, 44 Jahre später bin ich sehr dankbar, dass ich diesen Rat angenommen hatte. Es war eine wundervolle Gruppe und ich habe tausende von Leuten getroffen, die ich wohl nie getroffen hätte, wenn ich nicht Teil der Grand Ole Opry Familie gewesen wäre. Ich sollte eigentlich in dem gleichen Flugzeug sitzen, mit dem Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Randy Hughes und Hawkshaw Hawkins verunglückten. Aufgrund eines Notfalls in meiner Familie musste ich auf einem Linienflug nach Hause fliegen. Hawkshaw Hawkins hörte zufällig mein Telefongespräch und sagte "hier Junge, du kannst meinen Platz in der Linienmaschine am Morgen haben und ich nehme dann deinen Platz." Das war am 5. März 1963."

Es ist bedauerlich das Billy Walker von uns gegangen ist. Denn solche Alben sind selten geworden.

Billy Walker has given something very special to his Fans. His Album" Tribute To Jimmie Rodgers". It has been Billy Walker last Album. In his inimitable way he sings Songs from Jimmie Rodgers. In a Interview that i did with a friend of mine once with Billy Walker, I asked him:

„Billy in Country Music there are many Legends that are known in the US and Worldwide. Can you tell us some of your personal experience with them?"

Billy Walker: „Take for example Patsy Cline – The both of us worked together for the first time in a TV Show in the Capitol Arena in Washington D.C. with Jimmy Dean. I remembered that Patsy was a Guest at a other TV Show where I was at before, that was taken care of by Red Foley , "Ozark Jubilee". Patsy and I had the same Manager, Randy Hughes. I came to the Grand Ole Opry because Randy encouraged me to, and today, 44 years later, i am very greatfull hat i took his advise. It was a wonderfull group and i meet thousands of people, that i would’ve never meet if i wasn’t part of the Grand Ole Opry Familly. I should be sitting in the same Plane that Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Randy Hughes and Hawkshaw Hawkins crashed in. Because of a Family emergency I was going to have to take a different Flight home. Hawkshaw Hawkins overheared my Phone Call back then, and said "here you go Boy, you can have my Seat in the Morning Flight and I take yours ." That was on March 5^th 1963"

It is very sad that Billy Walker has passed on. Records like these have become rare.
