Bluegrass Legende Larry Sparks ist zurück. Larry Sparks hat in seiner Kariere schon so manchen Preis abgeräumt. Darunter zählt auch der begehrte Preis der IBMA – Male Vocalist Of The Year. Gebohren 1947 in Lebanon, Ohio, zog Larry Sparks nach Indiana. Angefangen hat alles damit, dass er sich eine Gitarre zulegte und zusammen mit seiner Schwester Bernice zusammen sang. Später dann kam er mit den Stanley Brothers zusammen. Dort spielte er Gitarre. Als 1966 Carter Stanley starb und Ralph Stanley seine Solo-Kariere voran trieb, war es auch Zeit für Larry Sparks zu gehen. Larry Sparks erfüllt sich nun mit dem Album „40" ein lang gehegten Traum. Zusammen mit anderen Künstlern wollte er schon immer einmal ein Album aufnehmen, welche mit seiner Musik aufgewachsen oder dem Bluegrass vom Herzen nahe stehen. So kam es das Larry Sparks mit: Andy Griggs „Georgia Peaches", Sharon White – Skaggs und Cheryl White „City Folks Call Us Poor", Alison Krauss und Dan Tyminski „John Deere Tractor", Vince Gill „Blues Stay Away From Me", Rhonda Vincent „1-800-Do-U-Care", The Isaacs „Where The Weet Water Flows", Kevin Denney, Carl Jackson und Larry Cordle „Tennessee 1949", The Marshall Family „I Need Jesus", Ralph Stanley und Ricky Skaggs „Shareropers’s Son", Rebecca Lynn Howard „Love Please Stay", Paul Williams „Listening To The Wind", Tom T. Hall „I Want You To Meet My Friend", Vince Gill, Jim Hurst, Kenny Smith und Tim Stafford „Carter’s Blues", Russell Moore und Ronnie Bowman „Brand New Broken Heart" einspielte. Einziges Solo von Larry Sparks auf dem Album ist der Song „New Highway".

Bluegrass legend Larry Sparks is back. Larry Sparks has received many a prize during his career. Among them is the desired prize of the IBMA – Male Vocalist Of The Year. Born in 1947 in Lebanon, Ohio, Larry Sparks moved to Indiana. Everythin began when he got himself a guitar and started to sing together with his sister Bernice. Later, he met the Stanley Brothers. There he played the guitar. In 1966, when Carter Stanley died and Ralph Stanley drove forward his career, it was time to leave for Larry Sparks as well. Larry Sparks fulfilled his long harboured dream with the album "40", now.
